********** by Air Ethiopia

Last year on 11th November 2019 , I booked and paid R70,809.76 for 2 return business class tickets from Cape Town to London, through the Travelstart travel agency. Booking Reference Number TB***6

When the news of the Covid 19, pandemic in Italy and the UK reached Cape Town, I elected to cancel my tickets as we am well over 65 with comorbidities and I did not want to expose either my wife or myself to unnecessary danger. Air Ethiopia was continuing to fly into China, well into the pandemic period, making me feel most unhappy about flying with them.

I contracted Travelstart and cancelled the booking with them and they advised that they would cancel our tickets and inform Air Ethiopia accordingly. They calculated my refund from Air Ethiopia to be R 32,805.93 per ticket.

It is now more than 8 months since I cancelled but I have not yet been refunded. It appears that Travelstart has had no response from Ethiopian airlines to the cancellation request which was done through their offices.

I have correspondence from Travelstart acknowledging my cancellation but , to date , I have not received a refund, despite having cancelled more than 8 months ago.

I am most disappointed by Air Ethiopia and their lack of the basics of customer service and care. Travelstart say they can do no more than they already have ,in that they have written to Air Ethiopia and requested my refund.

They however continue to book passengers on Air Ethiopia.

I feel that I have been ********** by Air Ethiopia and want them to refund me my unused ticket money urgently
