No reimbur*****t on delayed flight on Ethiopian Airlines

I recently fly back from Israel using Ethiopian Airlines. The flight was delayed so I missed by flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town. I was told to visit Ethiopian Airlines desk and after waiting for about 1 hour they confirmed that they would not reimburse me for my missed flight. They stated that they would not pay for accommodation either so I had to find my own hotel. This delay cost in about R3000. I find this unacceptable and I won't be flying Ethiopian Airlines again
