Fly Ethiopian Airlines at your own risk

There was a little mistake at the check in desk regarding not requesting an essential document for my daughter, a minor, to fly out of South Africa( a letter of permission from the father for her to travel, it was our first time traveling without him, so I was unaware) It started off a domino effect of a series of difficulties. By the time we reached passport control and were told we couldn't fly, it was late. There was almost no time to make a plan to get something in place. At the very last moment we got it and made the flight. But our luggage did not. When we arrived in Tel Aviv and realized, I filed a lost baggage claim and then phoned daily to mostly not get through to anyone for 6 days. It had been sitting in our departure airport. I didn't sense there was anyone taking responsibility and that has been the theme of my experience with Ethiopian. I comforted myself during the days I was without my things that at least I would get compensation. When my bags did arrive and I was told they have a set rate for delayed luggage compensation of $75 per passenger no matter how many days delayed. I voiced my objection to this policy that reinforced 'no responsibilty' and after much time and arguing, I was offered a "good gesture" of business class compensation $100 per passenger compensation as their "final offer". There was even an arrangement where I could collect $200 cash at the check in counter. Thats when another thing happened, a mistake that I take responsibilty for. I misread the flight time. It was 00:45 on Sept 17 and I mistakenly understood that to mean Sept 16 after midnight. Apparently its a hugely common mistake according to my travel agent friend. I was alerted to the mistake by the person in Ethiopian who I had been in email correspondence with and had the night shift at the time I missed my flight. I asked her to advise me what to do now. She said to phone the reservation desk in the morning. I did so from 6 am to find it opened at 8:30am. I found out there was availability on the next night/ early morning flight 00:45 so I requested that as adequate compensation for my troubles , a 6 day luggage delay and missing a flight I paid for , to allow me to fly without paying all over again. The gentleman I spoke with at 8:30 am said he would phone me back. I gave him 2 numbers just to be sure he would reach me. He didnt phone me. I tried to get through all morning with no success. Finally I get an email close to 4pm to tell me they rejected my request . I have to buy a new ticket and the ticket office closes in 1 hour. I was more than an hour from the airport so the lady offered to leave my forms to sign ( for the delayed baggage compensation ) for when the ticket office would open at 10pm for that night/ morning flight. After an expensive taxi ride to the airport, I wait till 10pm for the ticket office to open. An angry woman shouts at me " you have to pay, you have to pay!!" She tells me to find that same woman who was in the night shift again. I find her and she directs us to go through security first which we did though it took a long time and then we found her again at the ticket office. I signed my delayed baggage compensation forms unfortunately trusting it was as was agreed and I offered my card to pay for a new ticket. Being a debit visa card, their system wouldnt let it go through. I was asked if I had any friends or family who could let me pay on their card. I said yes I do. And she said , Sorry I have to go to the gate now. You mean I am not flying ? And the ticket office closed in my face leaving us stranded in the airport at 1am . Noone to care , noone to take responsibility. At 4am I managed to book a new flight online with my card , no problem. We were on the 10am flight. I asked at checkin if I could get the $200 cash I was promised at the check in for my original flight 2 nights/ mornings before and I was told no, only a voucher. I was met at the gate entrance and handed a voucher for $300 for 2 passengers towards an Ethiopian flight( (the last thing I want is to fly Ethiopian again) or if I wanted cash it would be half that and half that again to claim the cash in my home country( I was at the gate about to board the plane that was leaving) This is literally insult to injury.
