Ethiopian Airlines: worst airline in Africa 2024

The 2023 award for Africa’s leading airline, Ethiopian Airlines has shown that the standard in Africa clearly isn’t very high. The airline lost 2 of our 4 suitcases from OR Tambo to Doha with a stopover in Ethiopia. It took more than an hour to just report the incident with the staff logging all the wrong information with our passports in hand. We were told we will have feedback within 24hours of where the suitcases are, which didn’t happen. The telephone numbers given don’t work, no one can tell us if the suitcases are still in South Africa, Ethiopia or on route to Doha. As per the airlines lost baggage policy we are supposed to get an overnight kit and $75 to purchase products so we can get around till the suitcases with everything I own is located. This didn’t happen and no one can really tell us who we are supposed to contact or who is in charge to help. Baggage gets lost, it happens, but then your customer service needs to be on it. So I would suggest you go for the runner up of Africa’s leading airline because Ethiopian Airlines clearly doesn’t care.
