Damaged luggage

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration with the handling of my luggage on my recent flight from Johannesburg to Istanbul on March 14, 2025. Upon my arrival in Istanbul, I found my bag on the conveyor belt, and to my shock, it was clear that it had been deliberately damaged. The built-in locks were completely broken, rendering the bag useless and unable to be secured. Moreover, some of my clothes and cosmetics were missing from the bag.

It is immediately apparent that the bag was not mishandled by accident, but intentionally damaged. Given that I trusted Ethiopian Airlines to handle my belongings with care, I am appalled by the condition in which my bag arrived. I went to the Ethiopian Airlines lost and found section at Istanbul Airport to report the issue, expecting a prompt and professional resolution. However, I was met with unhelpful and indifferent staff who outright refused to log the case or offer any assistance. They directed me to email the airline, leaving me stranded at the airport without support. This lack of accountability and basic customer service is deeply disappointing and unacceptable. As I write this email from the arrivals hall, I am in a very difficult position. I cannot continue my travels with a bag that has been so thoroughly damaged and is now completely unsecured. I demand immediate action and resolution to this issue. I expect the following steps to be taken: 1. Full investigation into the damage to my bag and the missing items. 2. Immediate compensation for the damage and missing belongings. 3. A formal apology for the substandard customer service I experienced at Istanbul Airport.

This is not the level of service I expect from any reputable airline
