Compensation for Delayed and damged Baggage
I recently had the unfortunate luck of my baggage being delayed on my international trip when flying Ethiopian Airlines. The entire duration of my stay was 4 days. After logging my baggage claim with the airline upon my arrival, I had to make numerous calls and send several emails just to get an update from the airline on my baggage. The first contact I received from the airline was on the 3rd day of my stay. I was forced to purchase everything I required for my trip since my baggage was only returned on the date of my departure. To top it off, the luggage itself was completed damaged and unsable. On departure, I was assured by the local customer service office that all costs incurred and reimbur*****t for damages will be paid upon my arrival back in Cape Town. Since landing in Cape Town, the airline has completely changed its tune and are only offering USD75 for delayed baggage even though this is barely sufficient to cover the taxi costs I was forced to incurred in purchasing items required for my stay. This is absolutely unacceptable. What about the costs of the actual items purchased which includes clothing, toiletries, shoes and other essentials? Absolutely unacceptable!
