Ongoing Patch work on Vausedale Road, Queensburgh

I live in the Northdene Suburb, Queensburgh, Durban, since 2015. 1. Vausedale is a lead road from the Main roadway to my residence. We have had an extremely high number of burst water pipes on this road, mainly due to the "OLD" ceramic or asbestos type pipework. If I can estimate from memory, over 50 times and that's no exaggeration. At times we went without water for 4-6 days. The layman logical remedial action is to replace the pipeline, however more houses and industrial activity, more vehicle movement resulting to pressure on underground pipework, and subsequently burst pipe. However eThekwini chooses to patch work and believe you me, at times 3-4 burst pipes in a week, next to each other. The eThekwini remedial system works on appointing Contractors to fix, then another to bring in fill material and another to restore surface asphalt. There is absolutely no sync between these parties as you could wait for days or even weeks to restore the road. It has now come to a stage that when driving down Vausedale road, apart from the speed bumps, you have "WATER BURST eThekwini continuous Speed bumps", and very soon, you can only utilize a 4x4 or drive at 20kmh at hour with a normal car. the councilor's response has been "eThekwini has other pressing matters. In other words, Your rates is for Other pressing matters. The root cause is the "old" type of pipe work. The remedy-relay new pipework. When eThekwini does decides to fix, they would also have to redo over a km of road surface as it really bad, Until the permanent solution is carried out, eThekwini would have fork out whatever it costs to pay sub contractors to conduct patch work, which I estimate has run up to over a R1m to date.
