Disgusted by the lack of service delivered to Amaoti by the eThekwini Water and Sanitation Department.

I am not usually a person who likes to involve themselves in politics and so forth however today as a citizen that votes on every cycle to be neglected and treated with outmost disrespect and disregard by the eThekwini water and sanitation department is more frustrating than hurtful. In the area of Amaoti in Inanda we have not had running water which is a basic need from last week Sunday(05/11/2023) mind you we only had the running water for a few hours as before Sunday we didn't have water at all. We have elderly people who live on their own who cannot make it to the river to get water since we are not even provided a truck that will bring water from the time we have had no water but then the government expects the same people they are ill treating to vote ANC in the upcoming elections. Some people are even getting water from the dirty stream next to my house because they have no option but to live like dogs due to the service delivery that is working against them. Next thing a mass of people will be suffering with cholera and all those nasty diseases that you get from using dirty water and because it is a black dominated area we will be disregarded and told we are un hygienic when in fact we are forced by the situation to live like this. I called the water and sanitation line and was advised they do not deal with the dispersion of the water trucks but the ward councillor is, to my amazement one of the people who work hand in hand with the Amaoti councillor put up a post on the Amaoti Facebook page for us to contact the *** to get assistance now tell me from who and where do we get the required assistance of obtaining the basic need such as water since none of the people that we are meant to be reporting to are helping instead are clueless and useless. The fighters who fought for the human rights must be turning in their graves because those who are still alive and in high positions are to busy feeding their pockets to have a care in the world. I really hope one day the older generation that is the one that is affected the most will one day catch a wake up and vote for someone who will be concerned about them and their needs and I hope this message finds the right person who will read it with compassion.
