Horrible Service
Good day, I would like to formally lodge a complaint regarding the service I have received from the Electricity Faults Department and the Depot Department concerning unresolved electricity faults at House No. 16, Maphikelela Road, C Section, Umlazi, 4031. A total of three faults have been logged over the years, relating to the electricity meter and the damaged electricity pole. Despite repeated reports and follow-ups, these issues remain unresolved. 1. Initial Fault: Faulty Electricity Meter (Reported in 2022) In 2022, a fault developed with our electricity meter after engineers from the Electricity Faults Department had attended to another issue. The meter stopped displaying numbers, making it impossible for us to load electricity. When this issue was reported, we were advised that the meter would be bypassed because eThekwini Municipality was in the process of replacing electricity meters. We were instructed to wait for the new meter. However, this replacement has never materialised, and the matter remains unresolved. Unfortunately, I do not have the reference number for this report, as I was not the person who initially logged the fault. 2. Second Fault: Request for a New Meter and Repair of the Electricity Pole As the years passed without the installation of a new meter, I logged another fault requesting that the damaged electricity pole be repaired and that a new meter be installed. The reference number provided was ***. Technicians attended to the property, assessed the meter box, and inspected the electricity pole. They identified that the pole was damaged and advised that our details would be forwarded for the pole to be repaired before the meter issue could be addressed. 3. Third Fault: Damaged Electricity Pole – No Resolution I subsequently logged a separate fault specifically concerning the damaged electricity pole. The reference number is ***. Despite logging this fault, no action was taken until I contacted the department on 23 July to request feedback. I was informed that the matter had been logged with the Depot Department and that someone would attend to it. Following a further follow-up on 15 September, I received a call advising that someone would need to inspect the pole to determine the correct pole size required for the repair. Since then, we have received no further assistance or communication regarding the progress of this matter. 4. Unprofessional Conduct by a Call Centre Agent – 2 October 2026 Today, 2 October 2026, I contacted the department from ***. My first call was made at approximately 19:02. During the call, I spoke to an agent whose conduct I found rude, condescending, and unprofessional. I requested to speak to a Team Leader, but the agent informed me that no Team Leaders were available. I was extremely dissatisfied with the manner in which my concerns were handled, particularly given the seriousness and urgency of the unresolved electrical fault. Furthermore, the call was disconnected while I was still seeking assistance. I consider this unacceptable and request that the call recording be reviewed to establish what transpired.

Rude and *********** eThekwini municipality technicians
I received a call from a very rude technician using this number +27 (61) *** I reported a fault early in the morning instead of coming to our area to repair the fault, they proceded to Verulam, we don’t have electricity in the area, I wonder how the municipality hires such rude people who behave as if they are doing the community a favour by rendering services
