We have had a leak in our house, which has resulted in our wooden floors being exposed to water. After calling a few plumbing companies in the Durban area and obtaining prices for leak detection(as we could not locate the leak without breaking walls down)- EThekwini M&R quoted a price that we duly noted. When we called them back to ask them to come out, this price changed. And when they eventually did come out, he came with an arrogant and bad attitude which we choose to ignore in order to get the job done. He then advised that if he knows what is causing the issue but unless we give him the go ahead he is unable to tell us(he advised so we don't do it ourselves), we agreed to the offer. He then seals the area with half a tube of silicon(R35 a tube), and says that it does not take a Brain surgeon to know that was the problem and then the leak will stop within a few days. He charged us R450 for 5 minutes of his time. And advised that we will need to water proof the area as well at some stage. 2 weeks later, the leak has not stopped. we have made contact with him and he is now insisting that he just sealed the area and the leak is due to water proofing and has also ignored out calls.
