We walked into Estora Home on Saturday to buy a couch, its was a quick and easy sale that went terribly wrong. We sat on the couch we liked and said - we will take this one, same layout, same fabric - everything. Ring it up. The salesman ran us through fabric options, we agreed on a Easy clean fabric. As he and his colleague (2 sales people to do this) rang this up he then adds on a R3000 delivery fee (a bit steep - but we paid it even though this was not on the Price list on the plaque in store) Monday comes and he informs us that he didnt charge for the correct fabric and we now need to pay an additional R4000. Baring in mind that we have already paid over R30k for this couch. The owner of the business Shir'a emails us to say that: As noted in our Terms & Conditions, and on the quotation itself (which we didnt see as this was rung up in store), we do reserve the right to correct any errors that may occur on quotations or pricing. And due to substantial recent increases in our raw material, packaging, and manufacturing costs because of the rise in fuel and diesel prices , together with our current promotional markdowns, it would not be feasible for them to absorb an additional R4,000 difference on the order. I responded highlighting that this was a dual witnessed and executed sale that was a fault on their end, as well as under the Consumer Protection Act, consumers who have reasonably re**** on a quoted price and completed a transaction in good faith are protected. Their T&Cs do not override this where the error is clearly on the supplier’s side. We have been refunded - despite desperately wanting this couch and giving them ample room to fix their error. I feel disappointed that a business would use these cheap measures and excuses to get out of this sale, on a fairly expensive couch. Their so called promotion is covering their increased and exorbitant delivery charges to soften the blow, and their staff are incapable of doing their jobs correctly.
