Incredibly poor quality & service

We purchased a dining room suite from Essops costing around R40K that was made of metal and glass. One would think that such construction would last a long time, particularly at the price.

Upon delivery we had issues with the table resulting in the table being swapped out (it was obvious that this was not a new product and was one off the floor). This was just the start...

The glass of the table itself is about the only thing that has not started disintegrating. The metal on the table base is pulling up creating a very dangerous situation as it is as sharp as a razor. This is not something that can be repaired as repairs just result in the same happening at the same place whether it is contact adhesive or industrial grade epoxy (lovely smell to have in your dining room...) that is used. It is simply poorly designed and very cheaply manufactured (though when you first see it polished up and new it looks very solidly made - this goes for almost everything in the store - it appears good but is actually garbage). You only find this out afterwards (and also about their customer service which simply doesn't work... at all...)

The metal on the chair legs has started pulling up on all the chairs... which again is dangerous apart from being unsightly. Two of the chairs now poke you as you sit on them... The interesting part is that the set we purchased came with 8 chairs. of these, 2 were unused. Even the two that are completely unused (and have never been) have had this happen to them! Imagine leaving something undisturbed for 1.5 years and when you check again it has damaged itself in exactly the same way as those used daily?? This would have at least been some relief whilst the two were (in theory) repaired or replaced by Essops if they had any semblance of client service or support, but looks like the only option is to cut your losses at this point. Absolute GARBAGE. Don't even take it for free...

R40K gets you squat... maybe if you spend 100K+ they will care about you as a client. I will go and get a plain set from Coricraft next time. Not flashy but at least there is proper support and backup
