Essential Med Pays as little as they possibly could! Terrible Scheme!

My fiance had extreme abdominal pain, which then we rushed to the hospital, @Mulbarton Hospital. We arrived there at 09:00AM and she only got admitted at 18:00PM (That is a whole other bad review on it's own).

We were referred to my our local GP to get admitted. Now after taking blood tests, x-rays and a general check up. It was advised that she needed a G-scope. Essential Med then made a GOP (Guarantee of Payment) of R21 500, which would cover for the Hospital, Doctor and Anesthesiologist. I got a phone call the next morning stating that she cannot go for the procudure untill we pay for the G-Scope (R5300 - not the doctors fee) becuase Essential Med does not cover for it. After a couple of phone calls and with no progression i proceeded to pay for the treatment.

We then went home later that day after being left in the dark of what is the actual issue and how to prevent it and so on (Also another review from Mulbarton Hospital and one of their pathetic Doctors). About 3 days later, we recieved the news that we have to cover for the Doctors Fee's, the Anesthesiologist Fee's and the Blood tests. Becuase Essential Med only paid over R10 000, because she dot not stay there for the full 3 days (Just another way of the hospital to suck out all the money they could, and another way for Essential Med to pay as little as they could).

1. We left there not knowing how to further prognose the condition. 2. I had to phone Essential Med numerous times to get her admitted, becuase of the staff at Mulbarton being ***********. 3. I had to pay in more than what Essential Med paid for, the total amount of R11300, where they only paid R10 000. 4. Essential Med makes all these promises over email and advertisment then when it comes to actullay helping their clients, then all the truth and excuses comes into play.

Absolutely terrible and i will never consider or advise your pathetic scheme!

Ideal situtation. "Sir if your Fiance gets admitted, please be aware of the following.... I see she is going in for a G-Scope, please be advised that we will not cover for this, also be advised we will not cover for the blood tests and also we will only cover if she stays there for 3 days, in other words we do not cover for much!"
