DON'T sign up for Essential Med Rewards

So here goes. I don't have to much of an issue with the medical insurance itself my issue lies with the rewards program. I have been a member of the rewards program for almost 3 years now (same time as the insurance). In the beginning, I signed up for the rewards and thought that they would follow whatever processes apply from their side as they should as it is a service they provide. Instead they didn't which has lead to me paying R540.64 in total and not getting the 5500 points I should have gotten all due to someone not doing their job properly. I mailed them regarding this and got a snotty response saying they would only give me 3500 points for that period (which I am still waiting for). After I corrected their math they stopped responding all together... Meaning the R540.64 I paid thus far went straight into their pockets without me receiving any "rewards" for it.

Here is a breakdown of what I should receive (and if these points meant nothing I would not make a big deal out of it but the rewards program is actually pretty damn cool with amazing payouts.)

Sign up online with Essential Med: 500 Sign up to Essential Rewards: 500 Bi-Annual Renewal - Silver Tier because we pay more than R650 X 3: 4500 ( this excludes the one 6 month period that you already deducted) (Here are the periods: Start of July 2017 to December 2017, January 2018 to end of June 2018, Start of July 2018 to December 2018)

Making the total 5500.

I would suggest not signing up for the rewards program unless you want them to take your money and give you nothing in return...
