Accused of breaking component

On Monday 11 January 2015 I bought a motherboard from the said supplier and upon installing the item I discovered it might be faulty. I swapped out the memory and swapped the board into another case thinking the issue could be with the power supply but my suspicion was with the board from the word go as I have years of experience installing such components. Failing to get it going I removed it from the said case and returned it to the supplier on the 3rd day (13 January 2016) of having it. After they tested it without me being present the technician Richard K as per the note comes to me and shows me the pins for the CPU connection is bent on the motherboard. I have purchased over 100 motherboards from the same supplier and I've never returned a motherboard for this particular fault. They told me that this is a void of warranty as it is customer negligence. After arguing I agreed for them to book in the motherboard and then I bought a new motherboard and installed it in front of the manager to prove my competence. I demand my money back from them as I did not break the pins on the board as I am not that inexperienced in doing my job. This is unacceptable!

Hello wesleyvwykmdw,

We note your post and would like to reply as follows:

According to Werner Du Preez, the Warranty manager , you brought the item in the afternoon and complained that the item was giving a blue screen error.

Our technicians removed your CPU to find the CPU pins on the motherboard were bent, which they showed you immediately, we are not doubting your ability to build a PC, but clearly the motherboard was damaged.

In this case we have two options, we can try to fix it, (which I understand they tried to do) and secondly, Werner informed you that we can contact the manufacturer and ask their opinion, which you were not happy with.

As this is not a standard fault... but physical damage, we and any other distributor are very limited in the ways that we can offer assistance as we cannot ascertain where the damage occurred, please also remember that the item was sealed when you bought it which is why we ask the manufacturer to make the final call on the motherboard damage.

If you would still like us to contact the manufacturer, we would be happy to do so and we will both be guided by their decision.

Regards
Richard Watters
