Without electricity since 8 October 2025!!!
Dear Eskom Escalations Team,
I am writing to formally escalate a matter that has caused significant distress and inconvenience to my household. My electricity meter (Meter No: ***) has been non-functional since 8 October 2025, and despite multiple calls and follow-ups referencing ***, I have received no resolution or clarity on the issue.
Each time I contacted your call centre, I was met with uncer*****y—consultants were unable to explain the cause of the problem or confirm when a technician would be dispatched. This lack of transparency and accountability has left me feeling frustrated and helpless.
I reside at Belhar Gardens Rental Dwelling, a government-subsidized complex where tenants receive 50 free electricity units on the 1st of each month. While I do purchase R10 electricity on the 1st to activate these units, I also buy additional electricity throughout the month once the free units are depleted. This demonstrates my commitment to maintaining my household’s energy needs responsibly and I was also not aware until earlier when an eskom call centre agent told me that I needed to buy atleast R300 electricity in a month. I am now not sure if my meter had been soft or hard blocked. Please assist as I was not aware of the process and was just told by the landlord on the first day we had a tenant meeting that we should just buy R10 electricity in order to get 50 free units but we were never advised that we had to buy R300 in a month to not be flagged as low purchase. Please I need my meter box reconnected , I will provide proof of all my purchases, I just need my meter box reconnected as tomorrow will be a week that my family has been without electricity.
The impact of this unresolved issue has been severe:
I have two children, one of whom is a toddler, and we have been living without electricity for several days. I was forced to discard meat produce that spoiled due to the fridge being off. I had to spend money on takeaways as I could not cook, diverting funds originally budgeted for transport to work. My basic human rights and access to essential services have been compromised, despite being a tax-paying citizen. I urge Eskom to treat this matter with the urgency it deserves. The lack of resolution and the runaround I’ve experienced is unacceptable. I request immediate intervention and a clear timeline for when this issue will be resolved.
Please acknowledge receipt of this email and advise on the next steps.
