Who cares at Eskom?

The worst thing about *******ion, maladministration and incompetence at Eskom is that it is affecting the most vulnerable in our society and they are allowed to get away with it. I am helpless, I am in based in Cape Town and my parents are in Soweto, Johannesburg. They are pensioners in their 80's. I was informed on Wednesday that they are once again without electricity. After long hours of load-shedding their metered electricity board flashed ERROR. They reported the matter with the local Eskom office (Soweto is supp**** electricity directly by Eskom). The local office and technicians escalated the matter to 'we don't know who' and whoever it is does not think it is priority. In short, the Eskom system has red-flagged my parent's home because 'their electricity consumption is too low', hence their are 'under investigation'. The technicians who have attended to the query cannot do anything more until they get authority to open the box, no one can tell you by whom or when it will be granted. In the meantime, my folks face the prospect of facing another Christmas without electricity as the same thing happened last year. Eskom only attended to the queries after holidays. it is human tragedy that management at Eskom (as a monopoly supplier of electricity) is allowed to get away with this. They are allowed to play god with human lives and there are no consequences.. Yet, they can look forward to a holiday season with their families, without any care in the world. While they are deciding when, how, what to investigate human beings made of flesh and blood must wait. It does not matter that their medications must be refrigerated? What happened to 'batho pele' or the spirit of ubuntu. This is not what we signed up for!!!!!!!!
