Urgent

Good day,

I am a resident of Cosmo City, Ward 100, and I am writing to urgently request assistance regarding the ongoing electricity crisis in Cosmo City Ext 6, Yaounde Crescent Street.

Our street has now been without electricity for four weeks. We have tried contacting Eskom several times, but unfortunately we have not received the assistance we desperately need.

Our elderly residents even went to our councillor’s office to ask for help. They were promised that Eskom would come and resolve the matter. When they returned because there had been no progress, they were allegedly chased away and told that “people from our street talk too much.”

We find this extremely disappointing because this is the councillor whom we elected to represent and assist our community. We are not asking for anything unreasonable—we are simply asking for basic electricity and proper assistance.

The situation is becoming dangerous. Our children are studying in the dark and going to school exhausted. Some elderly residents are taking medication that needs to be kept refrigerated. The darkness is also creating a serious security risk, with ******* taking advantage of the situation.

We therefore respectfully request the Mayor’s Office and the relevant City of Johannesburg authorities to intervene urgently and ensure that Eskom attends to our street.

We cannot continue living without electricity for another day. We need urgent assistance, accountability and a clear update on when our electricity will be restored.

We would greatly appreciate your intervention in this matter.
