Urgent Assistance Required for Faulty Meter and Customer Service Concerns
I am expressing my concerns regarding the service I received at the ESKOM offices in Soweto on Thursday, 22nd August 2024. I visited both the Zola and Midway offices but was not allowed inside either establishment. Instead, I had to communicate with the security personnel at the gate, who instructed me to contact customer service. Despite informing them that I had already done so, I was told to wait for the supervisor/manager, who was not on the premises at the time. After waiting outside for nearly two hours, the supervisor/manager, Mr. Vusi Maphalala, arrived but did not immediately attend to me. I had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes before he addressed my issue. I explained that the meter at my house is malfunctioning and that my previous calls for assistance had gone unanswered. Mr. Maphalala apologized and assured me that a technician would be dispatched to my house and that I would receive a reference number. While I did receive the reference number, no technician has visited my house to date. This situation is particularly concerning as I have an elderly, sickly mother at home who may not be able to respond to visitors. I urgently need to know when a technician will visit to ensure someone is available to grant access.
Additionally, I would like to understand why customers are required to wait outside and communicate through security personnel rather than directly with ESKOM employees. I will appreciate prompt attention to this matter and look forward to a swift resolution.
