Unfair treatment by Eskom

Sometime in June my mother in law had an electrical problem in her house. She called Eskom and the consultant advised me to ask a private electrician to assist her. She did get the private electrician and the problem was sorted. At the of she bought electricity as usual but before loading it she noticed that there is still enough units left. She found this strange considering the last time she's loaded electricity. After a few days she realised that the reading has has still not changed. She then went to the Eskom office in Beacon Bay to report the issue. On arrival from Eskom office she saw Eskom technician climbing down the pole next to her house. They told her that the supply has been cut off because there had been a tempering. She went back to Eskom and was told that she will have to penalty of R6000 before she can be reconnected. This despite the fact that there is clear evidence that there was no intention on her part to de***** Eskom. The records indicate clearly that she purchases electricity every month, even after this supposed tempering has taken place. I consider this to be an unfair treatment to her as she is the one who immediately reported the problem and the fact that she has continued to purchase electricity as usual. She is now for her honesty. Meter number ********** 8614
