******* electricity connection

I write this review with sadness and a lot of pain. I work and live in Cape Town but come from Limpopo, Vuwani where I own a house. My house in Vuwani is vacant and my Eskom bills have generally between R 230 – R 300. I was shocked to receive a R 1,376.49 bill for the month of November 2016 which was adjusted for the estimated September and October 2016 bills. This spike in my electricity consumption led me to lodge a complaint with Eskom disputing my bill because I thought the meter readings might have been captured incorrectly. After an exchange of emails with Eskom representatives, Eskom sent a technician to my house to investigate. My house uses a street meter which was never locked or secured. The technician verified the meter readings and locked the meter with an Eskom pad lock. I also asked my neighbor to verify the readings, and the results were consistent with what Eskom had in their books. I then concluded that there must be an ******* connection on my meter resulting in the increase in my electricity consumption. I arrived at my Vuwani house on the 27th of December 2016 only to find that there was an *******ly connected cable on my meter. I was in utter disbelieve as to why the Eskom technician who went to my house did not pick this up. I have been charged with a R 925 electricity bill for December 2016 and I can’t afford this as I am a single parent. To rub salt to the wound, I then reported a case of an ******* electricity connection on the 3rd of January 2017. Eskom has been to my house, they saw the cable, but still haven’t resolve the case. After confronting the culprit who was *****ing my electricity, he told me that Eskom installed the electricity for him. Eskom has taken time to close this case, they haven’t even fined the person who was *****ing my electricity. I am afraid that when I return to Cape Town, the culprit might reconnect to my meter if this case is not closed. Eskom have suggested that I install a prepaid meter, but its Eskom’s responsibility to insure my meter is secure and protected from theft. I would like to see Eskom install a prepaid meter at my house and compensate me part of the money i paid to Eskom as a result of the ******* connection
