ESKOM'S ARROGANCE MUST BRING CHANGE
Its been a month and a week a small community of Lekgema, next to Madidi North West is without power. The cause of the outage is said to be a faulty transformer. This outage happen while the country was in stage 4 COVID-19 lockdown and people lost their stocked groceries and it is now winter. There has been Eskom personnel inspecting households claiming they are conducting an audit and its been 2 weeks they completed the inspections yet power is still not restored and there is no communication from Eskom. The level of neglect and disregard is gross! I have never come across such level of disregard from a service provider. I have seen service delivery protests using the language of burning and damaging property to have their grievances heard but this community folded in fear of COVID-19. The community often make donations to send members to meet Eskom to enquire on the progress of restoring electricity but no clear indication from Eskom. It crossed my mind that maybe its about time South Africa consider the independent electricity providers, competition might bring a number of benefits. The price of electricity keeps going up but Eskom Customer service remains $#!TTY with the quality of their electricity not even able to run a simple microwave(in this community). This community is frustrated and I know we are not the only one but SOON, the arrogance, the disregard and the neglect will meet its match! I know Eskom will continue to behave in this manner and I don't expect them to see this as a complain, THATS HOW ARROGANT THEY HAVE BECOME! Thank you for the platform allowing us to share our experience!
