Eskom technician *****

Hi everyone. I am Eddie Ravhambelani and I live in Protea Glen Soweto. At 12h21 in the afternoon of Friday the 24th of April 2020 I received a call from an Eskom technician called Phehlo as identified by the True caller on my cell phone. The cell phone number he called me with is ***. He asked me if I am home and I said no. Then he said he is standing outside my house and has come to cut off my electricity supply. I asked him why and he said because I have app**** for a business electricity line so that’s why he is cutting off my electricity supply. I said to him I app**** for a business electricity upgrade from residential to business as I have rooms and someone from Eskom came and reviewed my property and told me that Eskom will contact me to give me the quotation of the price so that I may give them a go ahead to upgrade if I can afford it. I also told him that I am just 5 minutes away and I am on my way. He said to me he can’t wait and insisted on cutting off my electricity and I will have to come to the Eskom office. So I asked him what he wants me to do and he said I shouldn’t come because we can’t talk with me in front of his white boss. So I asked him how I will give him what he wants if he doesn’t want me to come and meet him so he said I must send him R110 airtime to his number ***) he was calling me on so he won’t cut off my electricity. So I said I am coming and he dropped the call so I rushed there quickly and met an Eskom van coming from the direction of my house and I tried to stop it flashing my lights and it fled and I mean fled because he was overtaking three cars in front of him and I followed him trying to stop him flashing my headlights to no avail until I came close to it to see the registration number (YRC079GP) and then I turned back and went to my house and found out that he ran away without cutting off my electricity. So I am wondering if it is legal for Eskom to cut off my electricity when I buy my prepaid electricity every month and my tenants have prepaid meters and they buy electricity every month through Ideal Prepaid or is it legal for an Eskom technician to ask me for a R110 airtime bribe so he won’t cut off my electricity. It is so sad to find out that as one of the few customers who buy electricity properly on a monthly basis here in the township I can receive a treatment like this from Eskom.
