Eskom Poor Customer service /Online Portal:Change in Power Supply
Eskom Issue My issue goes back to 2003,when my Late Uncle had passed away. Before 2003,we had run a Mdchanical/Agricultural business where we utilized 3 Phase power. After his death,the company was closed and there was no need to be The TARRIFF CHARGE FOR 3 PHASE. Home power or Single Phase was needed. My aunt had called numerous times and made numerous visits to you Stanger branch throughout the period from 2005 til last year September until I had now taken over all of her affairs.
I had called through to your call centre sometime last year in September querying how and why her TARRIFF PLAN was not changed to a lower TARRIFF as she is a Pensioner and cannot afford a higher tariff plan which she no longer utilizes.
I was then directed and told by the Consultant over the phone to UTILISE ESKOM APP ONLINE AND SNBMIT A REQUEST TO CHANGE OWNERSHIP FROM HER LATE HUSBAND TO HERSELF, and was told to submit all the relevant documents I.e I D docs of both parties Death certificate etc... Thereafter it will be changed accordingly. I did however... Nothing was accomplished...
This was in September 2020.
There was no correspondence what so ever from them for months ... I kept on calling and leaving requests on the ONLINE PORTAL but still nothing was done. Until about 3 months ago, my aunt was sadly diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. The electricity issue has really stressed her as she has being paying an extra of +/- R3000 extra for the past 15 years. I then decided to drive down to your nearest branch here in KZN. That is in Westville to actually go explain our dismay and need for our issue to be resolved asap. I had spoken to a gentleman Tebego ,whom I got outside the building as there was no clients being allowed to ghd office due to the Covid 19 Epidemic. He had advised me to contact the Accounts dept,and also hold me to change OWNERSHIP ,thereafter Tariff plan. He didnot mention there would be any costs involved as the account holder is DECEASED AND I must provide proof of a Death Certificate. I tried and tried calling the Call centre many times to put me through the ACCOUNTS DEPT but still no Luck so then I decided to go back and use the ONLINE PORTAL . THE REFERENCE NHMBER ARE AS FOLLOWS ;
A consultant by the name of Asanda then corresponded with me via email and over the phone. She had advised that it can be done. Firstly, transfer of Ownership needs to be done and by doing so it will cost a fee of ......... My aunt has to follow protocol, will still be using the 3 phase power supply and thereafter she can either change the TARIFF TO PREPAID OR HOME POWER. THE FEE TO DO SO WOULD Be R17000+
This had really surprised us as all this time we were not told that and we had no money... ultimately my Aunt currently wanted to change to a cheaper more affordable power supply asap. I then told her that she must not go ahead with the change over as My aunt cannot afford the amount of. ...R17000+.. But she still went ahead without my consent aswell as my aunt to do so. She still went ahead and did the change. My aunts bill was then changed to her name without our consent and there was trace of my late uncles Bill for last month (March 2021).. Please see attached Bill. The bill had an absorbent amount of R17000.+.. I then sent the lady from Stanger branch a mail to ask her why this had happened without us agreeing. There was no response from her but I recieved a bill with the bill then amended and that amount of R17000 was removed, and my aunt had to pay Transfer costs of R2300+ There was the amount of R2? OUTSTANDING... My aunt then paid that bill thinking the transfer was done. 1. Because I sent a mail to Customer SERVICES aswell as to how much the bill is going to be for the month of March 2021,they had also sent me a mail stating that R2? Is only oustanding. Please see email attached.... Now comes to this month we were sent my Late uncles bill bill no tr
bill of R9700+
We are totally disappointed at the poor service of the consultants for Being incmopetent and misleading as well as Eskom as a whole. I have been mislead and been ignored numerous times. The online portal is if no use whatsoever. For more than 10 years Eskom had been robbing my aunt of her rights of being a South african citizen. Especially now at present with the country's POWER ISSUES & LOAD SHEDDING ,it would have been an urgency to give power to home owners minimal than supplying huge power that is not needed. And she being a pensioner and widow she has human rights aswell. I am definitely going publicize this matter to the media so that all people of South Africa are aware of what happens in regard to our country's people and Power Supply from Eskom. Her Bill's had always been paid timeously though but this time we are refusing to pay the amount of R9? She cannot afford so... Please resolve my matter. NB: Proof of emails are attached accordingly... Mrs Rockso (Frustrated and Angry Eskom Customer)
