Eskom makes an empty promise while lives are in danger

Hello Peter,

On Saturday, 7 January 2017, I called Eskom Customer Services with regard to the transferring of the electricity meter box at my parents' house (Address: 4520 Phahameng Township; Virginia; Free State). No electrician can do the transfer because only Eskom has the authority to switch off the power from the pole which supplies 4 households / sites with electricity. Eskom promised to send an electrician on call on the same day. Nobody came until today, Monday 9 January 2017. Seeing that I know people who previously logged calls for their own reasons and that they gave up because others have been waiting for more than 3 years , I request your intervention in this regard.

I am hoping that Eskom will take this complaint seriously for two crucial reasons: (1) the electrcity meter inside the house has put my parents' lives at risk because sometimes they see sparks on it and they also hear sound; (2) the cable supplying power from the pole into the house is not solid. What 2 Eskom officials did in 2003 is that they fastened two cables and used a blue industrial tape to protect the live wires from the rain. Certainly, the above 2 reasons contradict Eskom's policy because the electricity meter and the incomplete electrical cable pose a high risk to my parents. An immediate intervention and escalation of this complaint would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Tely
