Eskom Khayelitsha

I wish to give no stars at all.

I was at the branch today and received no help in terms of applying for a new electricity application. My home's electrical meter was ******, and the person who was renting there failed to report the theft. As a result of that there is no meter number nor any paperwork.

I went to Eskom today to apply for a new application. I was told to go to city of Cape Town offices (stock and stocks), to get a municipal letter with my home address. I got the letter and went back to Eskom. They told me that they would not assist me because the letter does not have the name of the owner of the house. The house belongs to my parents, and I am in the process of assisting them to get a title deed. What I fail to understand is that we had an electricity box and connected without the title deed. How is it that they cannot help now because we do not have a title deed?

Are all the informal settlements that have electricity in Khayelitsha with title deeds? Seems like the person who was assisting me was looking for every excuse to not assist or help.

This is wrong, as having electricity is a basic human right, and Eskom is denying us that right.
