Eskom insurance refuse to pay for my loss of electrical appliance and wasted food
Claim no: 428479. On the 4th of January(Saturday) we had electricity cut just after 18:H It was the whole area. I had a UPS in my premises connected direct to eskom box. Just after the electricity went of. There was a smoke coming from UPS. Just unplugged it and left it. Late in the evening, i came back there was no electricity in my business premises but around there was. Sunday morning i called eskom call centre to report the fault and i was promised technician will come to fix. I waited till Tuesday, that's when they came and fix electricity. I plugged the UPS there was nothing happening. I believe this was caused by fault from Eskom, i then report the matter to the nearest eskom office which is Taung. I was advised to fill a claim form which i did( claim for UPS and the food i lost). Someone from eskom did visit my premises, they had access to meter box and UPS. I was not there but the person who gave them access to the premises advised me that they only checked if i have tempered with they meter box, checked my DB, they just said earth leakage its not trapping and they left. I believe if they checked where UPS is been connected they will realize that its not connected to DB. So they only came to get the reason for not paying for my loss, they don't even feel for my loss to check the damages caused. I believe Eskom is still liable to pay for my loss.
