Eskom
Good day Email was sent to Eskom to query an incorrect billing on 12 December 2024 and again on 25 February 2025 and no reply. I've been on the phone to Eskom's accounts department and held on for almost 2 hours and no answer as well.
My Mom being a pensioner with little income have to pay huge bills every month. She tried numerous times to apply for prepaid box, but it was unsuccessful due to the fact that our bill needs to be paid in full in order to apply for the prepaid box.
The main reason for the unsuccessfulness to get the prepaid box installed is that the prepaid box quote takes about 21 to 30 days which is ridiculous, because after 30 days we get a new account and need to pay the full balance before we can get the per paid box installed. That being said my mom being a pensioner needs to pay for the prepaid box on top off the new account. So how on earth can one keep up with the bills pilling and we have to cope with living expenses as well.
I can go as far as struggling with Eskom since 2020 when they 1st send us a huge bill of +/- R15 000 as they done an actual reading for, I think about 18 months, and we were charged for that because Eskom at that stage had done estimation readings of which we paid according to the account. However, even though our account was up to date and paid in full at that stage we were liable to pay the huge bill. Eskom charging us back dated electricity, which was estimated, and not our fault and we struggle since that time as we had to lend money to pay the full amount as Eskom informed us that electricity will be cut if no payment has been received. I have numerous emails send to the highest complaints people to get this resolved but with no luck. I have all the email to back my case.
My frustration is why the long wait for the prepaid box quote and why does pensioners need to pay for the prepaid box.? Eskom does not even offer a financial relieve for the pensioners at all.
I need this compliant to be attend to Very Urgently.

Good day
At this point I am so disappointed with the way this query was never resolved, and the bills is just pilling up.
I need clarity urgently by tomorrow morning as to why the December Bill was not corrected yet as this is a result of Disconnection in January and huge bill in Feb again.
Enclosed the following Bills
November 2024 Bill: Amount to Pay - R 6 739.41 - Full amount of R6 740.00 was paid on the 25 Nov 2024 which leaves a zero balance.
December 2024 Bill: Amount to Pay – R4 660.24
Query charges for R 991.30 – why was this amount charge for need explanation and need to be credited and corrected on the new bill R1557.56 (payment arrangement was made in Oct 2024 for the arrears and account was settled in Nov full amount of R6 740.00) so why was the amount charge – need this to be refunded or taken off the new Bill
Bill query was logged in December 2024 for this account and no response for Eskom, so I did not pay the account in December 2024.
December account should have been R 2100.21 which would have carried over to January 2025, but instead an amount of R 4 660.24 and new Bill amount added to R 6978.35 which was a result of disconnection.
I’ve paid an amount of R4500.00 since I went on the calculation of the following:
Actual December payment due R 2100.21 + Jan payment 2318.00 = R 4418.44 which I paid – R4500.00 and credit amount should be R81.56
Above Eskom still carried over for Feb an amount of R2478.35 + New Account R 1518.22 = R 3996.57 which is in correct
The February Bill amount is R 1518.22 with the credit of R81.56 = R1 436.66 to be paid before 3 March 2025.
Please let me know if this is order after which I will make the full payment tomorrow and apply for the prepaid box.
