ESKOM DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE POOR & ELDERLY
My parents are both ailing pensioners and at all costs try to keep up with the municipal payment demands. They have an old Eskom meter, of which they have used and bough electricity for, ever since installation. Last week Monday, the meter burnt out, my mother called the Temba (Hammanskraal) walk -in centre and was given a reference number, to this date, the have no electricity, she has been going there daily and they keep moving her from pillar to post and was told that because THEY ARE POOR AND DON'T BUY ELECTRICITY FOR A LOT OF MONEY, THEY ARE NOT PRIORITY AND WILL ONLY BE ATTENDED TO AFTER 72 HOURS. 7 DAYS have PASSED and yet NO ONE has come from ESKOM. Today, she went there again and was told that the person who is supposed to help her has GONE OUT TO LUNCH. She asked for the manager and they refused to let her see one.
ALL THEIR FOOD, HAS ROTTEN AND OF COURSE, BEING POOR, THEY CANT AFFORD TO RESTOCK THE FRIDGE, and who knows, they might get fresh food but at this rate, the food will rot again.
Clearly ESKOM DOESN'T CARE about the ELDERLY AND POOR, they just pretend to.
So what should they do, bridge the meter before someone comes to assist them, should they ask the President to come assist them, What on earth are they expected to do?? Can someone from ESKOM put in a new meter for them!!
