Eskom Complaint - 4 WEEKS of no "ELECTRICITY"
I would like to lay a complaint against Eskom, regarding not having electricity for the past 28 days now. We experienced an electricity fault on the 18th February 2019, and reported the fault to Eskom multiple times, hoping to receive assistance or have a technician to come through as promised to fix or check what the problem is. But unfortunately till date, the problem remains as is with no assistance either. So far here are all the reference numbers we received from Eskom for the reported fault: *Eskom Ref: ********** 72 – 18th February 2019 *Eskom Ref: ********** 02 – 23rd February 2019 *Eskom Ref: ********** 51 – 08th March 2019 (@06:40am) *Eskom Ref: ********** 86 – 08th March 2019 (@13:11pm)
However this was not the first time we experienced fault at our premises. We had problems from the time we took ownership of the house.
1. October 2015, that is when we had our first fault. We reported the fault to Eskom and requested for a technician to come and assist. When a technician came he struggled to fix the fault and ended up saying that it was not Eskom’s fault, but rather for us to call on cosmopolitan electrical contractor to assist, hence our houses were new at that time. The fault was only resolved after few days by the electrician from Cosmopolitan. 2. Between 2016 -2017 we reported our meter not loading electricity. A technician came to our house and could not help at that time. He told us that his key does not open the mini substation box, and that he will return the next day with a different key and will sort everything out and we should not worry. That was the last time I saw him.
3. On the 18th February 2019 we reported an electricity fault, however we were told that it will take 7-14 “working days” for the matter to be resolved and a technician sent through to come and fix the problem whiles the issue is under investigation. Apparently they say that there is a fault in our cables. My husband than decided to go to the Eskom branch in Lanseria to speak to management and report the matter hoping to speed up the process, but instead when he got there he was not allowed to enter the premises as told by the security guard at the gate. We tried to wait patiently till the 14th working day which was on the 8th March 2019 for a technician to come through and assist us. Unfortunately there was no technician that came as promised by Eskom; instead we were told that our case was cancelled on the system, without even the matter being resolved. As to how we still don’t know neither understand. And worse of all the customer service department told us to log another call to get a new reference number as the matter is still under investigation and wait again for another “7-14 working days”. We refused to do so and rather that same day of the 8th March my husband then decided again to go to another branch the Rivonia Eskom Customer Service branch. Firstly he received very bad service, he was disrespected, interrogated and humiliated as if we are at wrong for the fault in the cables. He was then told that they will send through a technician on that day within 7hours. Unfortunately again no technician came to help us. And so we waited till the day after, and decided to call and make a follow up, but sadly we were told the same thing over and over again.
On Monday morning, 11th March my husband went again to the branch in Rivonia, to let them know that a technician did not come as promised and find out why he didn’t. He couldn’t stay for long at the branch until the matter was resolved because he has work to attend to and customers to meet. Sadly again he was disrespected; not assisted at all but rather told to go and attend to his customers and come back when ever his done with them, because he is wasting their time.
We have honestly lost all hope to get help and for this matter to be resolved. As we have been having problems with our electricity from day 1 and nothing major has happened. If possible please could you help us to resolve this matter, and have Eskom to come fix our electricity issue.
