Eskom billing is ripping me off
Good day, I am extremely unhappy with the current level of service biiling that I am getting from Eskom for my electricity account. Ever since I had my account created by Eskom for my electricity meter I have been paying exorbitant billing amount that they themselves cannot even explain. I stay in a two bedroom house (me, my wife & two kids under 8 years of age). We only have a geyser, no swimming pool or any other additional feature that may be the cause of high power consumption in the premises. I have stayed in the property since September 2018 and to date I have paid nothing less than R10 000 and yesterday I still received an invoice indicating that I owe R1 780 on top of what I have already paid. When I contact Eskom to enquirer about this billing, no one can explain properly to my satisfaction. I understand that this is a monthly billing account (not a prepaid meter account) which is dependent on estimation readings & actual month to month reading. However, according to Eskom consultants, I should be paying at least an estimation of +/- R500 - R600 per month for electricity. Meaning that according to this estimation I am supposed to have paid at least about R5000 - R6000 for the period that I have stayed in the property.
It seems like the more I pay them, the more they want to rip me off. I feel like all that I am working for is to pay for electricity. Please help I am in desperate need for your help. I have made numerous attempts (inquiries, complaints, disputes) via emails & phones calls to Eskom since February 2019 but all this fell on deaf ear. All that I get are hopeless bulks of references and no solution for my problem. This is the latest reference that I received from them today (***). I have proof of payments with me as proof. I am running out of cash to pay Eskom rediculous uphill billings that they themselves cannot even justify.
Please HELP Sandi
