Eskom
ESKOM
If it were possible, I would rate Eskom minus 5 stars on their website. The (honorable) minister responsible should stop patting himself on the back , prematurely, and pay attention to grave matters on the ground. I recently discovered that Eskom has allegedly been overcharging my account by 33% for at least a year. This amounts to quite a few thousand. I only managed to go back a year on my account with my limited records and resources and I in all honesty don't know how far back this goes beyond the past year or if I am the only one that this has happened to. I have tried to contact Eskom by email for an explanation but the mail just gets redirected from one individual to another until it's lost in Eskom's bowels. I very reluctantly went to their office in Belville and found that hey presto, the office was closed on Wednesdays, despite the website clearly stating that it opens at 08h00 on a Wednesday. The few people that had arrived were told to use the other avenues like email and the phone, to chase their own tails. This was an unnecessary waste of expensive petrol to solve a problem that is not of my making. I am a pensioner aged 75 with limited resources and a wife who is recovering from a recent op. Do I now have to run around wasting time and money solving a problem created by Eskom? I have repeatedly asked for a senior official to make contact with me but this is like asking for a fairy godmother or genie to intervene. It does appear that the "honorable" minister and Eskom have no respect for it's clientelle. I hope that this somehow reaches his ears, who knows, maybe he might be able to solve this conundrum before the election too. I am having to go back now on Thursday 22 May, more petrol wastage, but will keep you posted on any progress, if any, I have made.
