*Disgruntled Marginalized Customer*

I have deeply saddened by the deplorable service I got from Eskom from 19th July 2020 up to 21st July 2020 and still no electricity. We woke up on Sunday 19th July 2020 with no electricity in Maine Street, Cosmo City, Extension 0 (zero) and thought it’s load shedding only to realize it was a fault, which is understandable since the grid is said to be under pressure. Called Eskom got Reference number same day and called a number of times on Sunday with promises but nothing happened. Called again on Monday an number of times with promises we will be attended to the matter has been escalated, still nothing happened. Only to be told after 17:00hr after calling that the Sunday REF number has been closed at 16:00hrs on Monday since problem has been fixed and electricity restored which was not correct. I was given another reference number again. As usual called again a number of times and promised that the matter has been escalated and will be attended to but nothing happened until today. Then around 15:00hrs today told the reference was closed again but still no electricity. I have been given a new reference number again for the third time on the third day and promised a Technician has been dispatched to attend to us but I know nothing will happen again today, *FOR HOW LONG*.

What does it mean? These are COVID-19 pandemic times, life it difficult with salary cuts, retrenchments and tight budgets. We had stocked up the fridge with food items for the little children since they are home, now all that fresh food has gone bad and had to throw it away in the dust bin, how do I explain that to the little ones, where am I going to get the money to buy the food for the children, it’s only mid-month? Is ESKOM going to refund me for my loss on the fresh food, I was told they will not? Is it because we are a black community or what, or is it because we are a poor Cosmo City community so no one bothers about our struggles. All we needed was electricity and the rest we will see for ourselves. I did not intend to do this but how do I explain to the little children that there is no food in the fridge we threw it in the dust bin. *MAY SOMEONE PLEASE DO SOMETHING*.

Reviewer Update
Since 19th July 2020, we still do not have electricity, I am out of words. I wish someone from Eskom could do something about it. Right now, children have flu and cough from bathing from cold water, after bathing cold water then they have to eat a cold meal. No electricity to warm them up thereafter and worse the weather is not making it any easier. Everything we had stocked up in the fridge all gone to waste since we had to throw it away after getting bad. Even though it's month end it does not make it any easier since we are experiencing salary cuts. So how do you buy daily, it's expensive instead of stocking up and worse going to shops daily means more exposure to this COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Lanseria Depot area manager is not treating this matter with the urgency it deserves or doing anything about it, wish he could at least do something. Imagine Maine Street, Cosmo City, Extension 0 (zero) has not had electricity since 19th July 2020, surprisingly we saw the City Power replacing lights in a dark street, what an insult. Further all the more than 15 reference numbers we get are closed and Technicians lie that the problem has been fixed and power restored of which they have not done anything or even come to our area since 19th July 2020 but in Extension 5, an area which is across the road on the other side of South Africa Drive, if they report, within hours or less you see Eskom vehicles and technicians attending to them and at times even come twice which happened yesterday, that's unfair. I wish there was someone to speak to who would listen but unfortunately, we just have to endure the pain as is.
