Contract defaults and billing

We have app**** for single phase home power to be installed in 2005. We had a 3 phase electrical board on our residential premises. The connection made by Eskom to the premises, was made as a 3 phase connection instead of single phase without any of the owners knowing it.

After divorce, one of the owners requested Eskom during July 2014 to change her surname on the Eskom billing account and system. Eskom then decided to close the account and created a new account as Eskom then discovered that they have made a mistake and billed only for single phase instead of 3-phase since 2005. This resulted in a R25 000 bill since July 2014. Numerous letters and emails were sent with Eskom insisting that the '3-phase service were available, therefore we had to cough up the R25000 \. We have installed solar geysers in October 2014 and replaced the antique system with a modern single phase one and still this extreme billing. On enquiry
