COMPLAINT ABOUT ******* CONNECTION REPORTED TO ESKOM.

I have taken over my parent's bill with Eskom and paid off a huge (I mean HUGE) amount of money on their behalf as they are pensioners. Five weeks ago our electricity went off until today due to a neighbour connecting *******ly to our meter box.

Having a paid up account with Eskom I reported the matter to the cs@eskom in detail. I have written two emails to them within two weeks explaining the situation and gave evidence of my home account. I received NO response.

Have been calling customer services for 2 weeks. The last Ref. No. was: ***. I get different reference numbers and given empty promises every time I call. I have called the Eskom Hotline three weeks back, was told the matter is being escalated. Nothing was done.. I wish Eskom can respond faster on how we should escalate the matter as they are failing us.

I am using a lot of money making calls reporting this matter to them daily. The only feedback I get is: "We are escalating the problem, we will send technicians to fix the problem. We will send you the SMS, call us back after four hours if they haven't arrived, etc" Then I'm given a new reference number again every time I make a call. I have been sent from pillar to post, to their Zola offices (non functioning at present) and Diepkloof. Nothing is happening. Does Eskom have reliable and dedicated technicians that are working for them? Eskom said that people must report ******* connection to them and not take the law into their own hands. We are doing exactly that but there is no response. What is the point of complying by paying our bills and stay without electricity afterwards for weeks. Are we not South African citizens who must enjoy the services we pay for, just like everybody else. Are we expected to pay for the next bill Eskom is going to issue at the end of February for staying in the dark? We are the only house without electricity in our street. This is very disappointing and devastating to us as family. We feel very disadvantaged right now. Electricity, as one of the basic human rights, is what we are being deprived of by Eskom right now. Complying citizen.
