Minister of Electricity and Eskom Officials Informed, Yet Community Suffers in Darkness

A community in Eersterivier, Cape Town has been left without electricity for three consecutive weeks after a kiosk burned down, and Eskom claims it lacks materials to replace it. Despite repeated pleas for help, officials seem more concerned with collecting their salaries than serving the public.

The Minister of Electricity and his team, including his assistant, spokesperson, and acting director-general, were informed of the situation but failed to take action. Within Eskom, officials Amina Hendricks-Otto, Susan Haniotakis, Mbulelo Yedwa, Trish da Silva, Annakie Swanepoel, Xhanti Jacobs, Andrew T, Mr. Pillay, Penelope Mahlangu and even the Ombudsman of city of Cape Town were all made aware of the crisis but chose to ignore it.

The community has suffered greatly, with:

- Food spoilage and property damage - Increased crime rates due to darkness - Lost business and income for those working from home - Elderly residents left without warmth or basic necessities

As one resident lamented, "We pay our tariffs and accept price increases without complaint, but when we need Eskom's help, they abandon us."

The community of Eersterivier is crying out for help as Eskom's negligence leaves them without electricity for three weeks. Despite the Minister of Electricity and Eskom officials being informed, no meaningful action has been taken.

We urge the Minister and Eskom officials to take immediate action and restore electricity to our community, said a local resident. We deserve better than to be left in the dark.

The lack of accountability and sense of urgency from Eskom officials is appalling. It's time for change and for those responsible to be held accountable.

Find attached numerous lies and empty promises for the past three weeks. The joke is their drivers getting lost with kiosk on the truck and drive through the affected Street by the grieved community but the kiosk is for another area and not for them but Eskom claim they don't have materials for them.
