Eskom Pension fund Deffered pensioners raw deal

<p>My husband worked for Eskom for ten years.He left at age 55 and took a deferred pension.He is turning 70 in November.There are approximately 45 deferred &nbsp;pensioners .Since my husband left Eskom he has been paying a funeral policy which was R10.88 per month giving us a R15000 funeral cover.In August 2016 Eskom just stopped deducting &nbsp;the cover premium without notifying us of what was to happen.Just by chance i picked up in October that no premiums had been deducted since end of July 2016.I telephoned Eskom and was told they were sending a letter out which was only sent out at the end of December.They said the premiums had been deducted in error (for sixteen years) and that we no longer had this cover.I went to the Ombudsman and he said this was a matter between Eskom and the employee and that they would refund our premiums which they duly did in 2017 The amount paid was plus minus R1950 Rands. We have since tried to get a funeral policy and are looking at nearly R400 per month. After paying this for all these years and sitting in a comfort zone knowing we were covered my query to you &nbsp;is that why &nbsp;we were &nbsp;not told prior to them stopping this cover and how after sixteen years can they just stop this saying they made an error.Apparently there is no policy and this was something that Eskom put in place. I look for any advice on this as i feel the deferred pensioners have been mistreated and i also wonder how many of the 45 pensioners are not aware of this as pensions get paid into bank and they wouldnt notice the R11 shortfall.</p>
