ESB installed my geyser in 2024 with the overflow pipe incorrectly terminated inside my wall cavity, dripping into the wall and causing significant damp damage. I reported it in writing on 16 December 2025 with photographs and the invoice, followed up on 19 and 22 December, and phoned repeatedly. On 5 January 2026 ESB said to claim from my insurance as their warranty was only one year. I explained it was a concealed installation defect and asked only that they assess it, offering to pay the call-out if it proved unrelated. Follow-ups on 13-16 January went nowhere. I escalated to the Institute of Plumbing South Africa (IOP(SA)), which investigated and instructed ESB to return and rectify. They attended on 24 February 2026, left the pipework hole unsealed despite my raising it beforehand, and arrived without materials - I supp**** my own silicone. Rectified only after two months of chasing and IOP(SA) intervention. Poor workmanship, and worse after-sales service. Not recommended.
