HORRIFIC treatment from Dr Du Preez of ER Consulting at Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada

I have yet another complaint about ER Consulting and not its accounts department now but it’s actual Doctor. On Christmas Day my 4 year old daughter had a fall, hit her head and instantly had a nose bleed. I immediately took her to ER and we left for home when she was cleared. While at home I was monitoring my daughter for any fluid drainage from her nose and ears as advised by the doctor we consulted on Christmas Day, I notice a foreign body in her ear and again immediately take her to ER where I come across Du Preez at Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada on 27/12/2024. I give the history as to why we are there. The doctor makes her first attempt at removing 1 piece of the foreign body which she successfully does with the long tweezers, thereafter my daughter expresses the pain she’s felt during the removal and her fear of the tools being used and that’s when she starts to cry. The Dr. tries to make another attempt and because of my daughter’s genuine pain and fear, she’s not cooperating, that’s when Dr Du Preez failed to hide the irritation with my daughter in her face and I ignored that. Dr Du Preez after a couple of minutes comes back and I calmly request that she makes another attempt, my daughter is still uncomfortable, crying and the Dr. yanks the tool on the table saying “I can’t!” and then budges off out of the cubicle. Dr. comes back and suggested they try flushing out the foreign body which my daughter still did not like the idea of, still is crying and now not sitting still at all. Dr Du Preez again yanks the syringe out of her hand onto the table and again says “I can’t!” With her hands in the air budging out again to write a referral letter to an ENT who is only available in JANUARY 2025 as all ENT’s are currently on leave and she suggests that I contact them in the first week of Jan ‘25! How is it that a medical doctor is not considering the fact that a foreign body in the ear could cause pain, an infection and/or hearing loss?? This doctor could not even prescribe or recommend a medication that we could give my daughter in the meanwhile to move the foreign body out? Never have I come across a doctor that has zero patience and tolerance for CHILDREN in this manner. Who does not know that there are children who are genuinely afraid of doctors/hospitals? Why could methods such as sedation not be considered so that my child cannot make a fuss? Now my daughter still sits with a foreign body in her ear which is deep in as Dr Preez stated until next year? I as her mother took this seriously, and took the necessary measures yet this doctor has downplayed the urgency of the matter. Should I require services from ER again and I come across this woman, I will not be using the services of that hospital, I will make Lenmed aware of this horrific experience and I will also be escalating the treatment of this doctor with the relevant bodies such as CMS and hospicom, wherever I can get an immediate resolution as I should have in ER!
