ER Consulting Escalated a Disputed Medical Bill to Debt Collectors Without Proof – Harassment Involving My Minor Child

ER Consulting Inc. has demonstrated gross negligence, lack of accountability, and disregard for due process by handing over a disputed medical bill to NuDebt Management — without providing a shred of the evidence they claimed to have and without addressing any of the concerns I raised.

This matter involves a claim for medical treatment supposedly rendered to my minor daughter. I was present during the visit and paid the hospital directly for a consultation and blood tests. No further treatment was rendered. There was no admission. No consent was given for any additional services.

Yet, ER Consulting has:

Failed to provide any detailed treatment records or clinical documentation, despite stating in writing that such records exist.

Ignored multiple formal email requests for proof of treatment.

Allowed this matter to escalate to NuDebt without confirming or resolving anything with me.

Taken no responsibility for the repeated harassment I’ve been subjected to since.

Even more alarming — the harassment began by targeting my minor daughter, with messages and contact attempts directed at her. Once that failed, I became the target of ongoing, aggressive collection activity.

Since then, I’ve been bombarded with:

Over 40 SMS messages

More than 30 emails

Frequent threatening calls from NuDebt, often demanding urgent payment and threatening credit blacklisting

Communications addressed to multiple incorrect names, including “Mr Pillay” and “Ms Pillay,” and even being sent another person’s full statement — a clear POPIA violation

The fact that a medical provider would permit this kind of data breach and still proceed with collection activity — involving a minor child, no less — is deeply ********* and possibly ********.

I have reported this case to:

The National Credit Regulator (NCR)

The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) — for ********* billing and professional misconduct

The Financial Ombud

Other consumer protection bodies

To date, ER Consulting has failed to respond to any of these reports.

The lack of transparency, the failure to follow proper procedures, and the decision to escalate a family matter involving a child to aggressive third-party debt collectors is disgraceful and irresponsible.

This has caused enormous emotional distress to me and my family. It is unacceptable that a healthcare provider would:

Mismanage records

Ignore formal disputes

Expose personal information

Enable ongoing harassment

And show no concern for the rights of a parent or child

I will never use any ER Consulting facility again, and I strongly urge others to avoid your services until your internal processes and ethics are addressed. No one deserves to be treated this way — especially over a debt that has not been proven and should never have been pursued.
