Renown Salty Shoulder Bacon

Complaint *** Renown Shoulder Bacon 200g

By consuming this product, my BP increased which resulted in my Sanlam life policy incurring exclusions. I wasn't able to increase my death benefit cover with Sanlam due to my BP being higher than normal.

This product isn't safe for consumption as the salt content is so high that it numbs the tongue! My spouse went to the Dr on Monday, 6th September & his BP was also high.

I bought the Renown bacon when it was on special at Checkers Hyper, 5 packs for R100 & for 1 free. I opened 4 packs on different occasions but couldn't eat it. I thought maybe the first pack was just very salty but all 4 packs were salty & I have 2 packs left.

It's a real disappointment as I recently started eating bacon & I got put off with the salt content. It's not safe for consumption !!

The response received for my complaint:

"Your Complaint was sent to the Quality Department & they found no deviation from the sodium content. Renown Shoulder Bacon is a saltier bacon than the other Enterprise Brands".

I suggest that a note stating, "high salt content" should be printed on the packaging so customers like myself will avoid it due to the high sodium content.
