Ensure Services - poor service bad advice

I took my HP4615 printer/scanner to the HP recommended service agent (Ensure Services) to have the print heads cleaned and the machine is designed so that users can't easily access them.

When I got there, the agent told me that they do not service the machine because it is obsolete - yet they had told me to bring it in! Even worse, after they had finished looking at it, the scanner no longer works either and the machine no longer communicates with the computer.

They refuse to take any further responsibility. Why do companies like HP build machines that are designed to prevent users from maintaining them and then refuse to service them? Must I just throw the machine away and add to the world's electronic waste mountain?!

And don't believe anything that Ensure Services tells you - their callcentre is in Dubai and they don't know what they are doing!
