Shocking Service and Unsafe Installation – End Load Shedding (Dixon)

I had an extremely frustrating and unacceptable experience dealing with End Load Shedding, specifically Dixon. A system was advertised and quoted at a specific amount, but I was then charged an additional fee simply because I am based in Amanzimtoti, Durban. This was never transparently communicated upfront. The installation process was chaotic and highly unprofessional: The installer arrived without a basic extension cord The drill he brought was not suitable for the job, forcing him to leave midway to find proper equipment Critical components, including circuit breakers and the inverter, were initially missing Despite this, Dixon pressured me for payment, even though their own terms state that all equipment must be present before any deposit is paid The quality of workmanship was completely unacceptable: Installer arrived with broken switch boxes, and labels were literally written on the boxes by hand The apprentice struggled to drill straight holes, with multiple failed attempts What was promised as a 3–4 hour installation dragged on until 7pm Cables were joined using insulation tape instead of proper watertight connectors DB boxes were installed with cracked covers The system was not properly calibrated or set up I was still told to make payment on the basis that “everything is working,” with promises that damaged components would be replaced later. After multiple follow-ups, Dixon advised that someone named “Lot” would come out to fix the issues. On the day, I was informed he could no longer come — and since then, no one has returned to resolve anything. To make matters worse, the solar panels installed do not even match what was quoted. This entire experience has been: Unprofessional Poorly managed Potentially unsafe And extremely frustrating I would strongly caution anyone considering using this company. Do not be misled by their promises. Avoid at all costs.
