Violating rights of disabled passengers

Emirates Airlines treatment and care of disabled passengers is absolutely appalling! My friend, Genna is a wheelchair user who flew this airline on Tuesday 26 from Cape Town to London. After special and timeous requests for her specially modified chair to be stored in the cabin, it was put in cargo where it was seriously damaged! We are all aware of Emirates' policy that heavy wheelchairs get put in the hold...but please, a) consider and respond to disabled passenger's requests, b) inform passengers if there's a change of plan c) secure their wheelchairs and the chair's transit handling so that they are not broken! These chairs are how disabled people move in the world? Emirates does not get that! Emirates does not respect that! Requests from disabled people are not about convenience. It is about their RIGHTS. It is about their DIGNITY. It is about their ability to MOVE. Further, Emirates' process of managing Genna's wheelchair repairs is appalling!! First they don't listen to her. Then they break her chair. They force her into compromising physical and emotional situations and then insist that she provide proof of costs and other ridiculous administrative demands before processing a claim!! Emirates' disrespect in this regard has ensured my friends, family and I will no longer give you business. Disabled rights are human rights! They are not special considerations! One of Emirates' taglines is “Be good to yourself. Fly Emirates” - well flying with them was probably one of the worst things Genna could have done for herself! Shame on you Emirates
