not the upgrade as first advertised

I was sent an email a day before my flight.

The email reads: Dear Mr Venter

You can now check in online.

Clicking on the link, I was redirected to the Emirates online check-in page. On this page, I was welcomed, and the welcome letter stated that I was able to enjoy an upgrade for 550 euros from economy to Business. Buy clicking on the option you are redirected to a page that tells you that you could enjoy the wonders of flying Business class and what it offers.

In my mind, I was like great lounge access A380 Business seat great free wifi on board excellent. I was blown away that I could access the plane from the lounge it then asked if you would like to upgrade and asked for payment wich was done.

I got my email confirming my upgrade, getting to the airport and printing my ticket was easy. I had access to the Business class gate and security line. At this point I was like great that's not too bad. Getting to the lounge : They would not let me in as my ticket was a promotional upgrade. I responded by saying and showing the wed page and asked how I would then need to access the plane the lady ( she did try and help) told me that she could do nothing for me and that I would need to contact head office. She asked If I had seen the bottom of the upgrade email that was sent after the payment had gone truly ? My response was yes she then pointed out that in the 15 points there is a sentence that says that lounge access can not be provided. Boarding the plan will be fun as I need to enter the plane at the bottom and then make my way up to the second floor somehow without using the boarding gate that I'm expected to .

I was really upset at this point as it was after I paid for the upgrade that it stated that. I have free access to Marhaba year round wich is a great lounge. I would have liked to know the restrictions before paying. I met 3 people in the Marhaba lounge that had the same exact experience as my self. I heard the conversation and was like that happened to me now. The lady at the front reception of emirates told us that it happens every day.

Shame on you Emirates, That is not how one does Business. its a form of deceiving / steeling. its HARAM!!!
