Excess charges due to malpractice - I want my money back

<p>I've had 5 enjoyable trips with Emirates before the last one exiting Delhi airport. This trip was ********** due to the ignorance of Emirates Delhi staff at the Delhi Airport.</p> <p> </p> <p>My flight schedule was from Durban, South Africa -> Dubai, UAE -> Delhi, India and then the reverse of that for the return trip. On my departure trip from Durban, and as with ALL my Emirates trips, we are allowed up to 7kg hand luggage. I took a small shoulder bag (in which a laptop could fit) and a small suitcase within your allowable dimensions. This was allowed on ALL my trips excluding Delhi to Dubai on 16/04/2016, flight EK513 at 04:15 AM.</p> <p> </p> <p>I was told in Delhi at the check in desk, that I am not allowed 2 pieces of hand luggage. I was in shock!! I told the guy at the check in desk that these exact bags were allowed from South Africa to Dubai and also on all my prior 5 trips to Thailand, Bali and even India using Emirates. Please note this is not a baggage over weight issue.</p> <p> </p> <p>The issue was me carrying 2 pieces of hand luggage. I could not comprehend how this was allowed in all my other trips and disallowed in another country. It is illogical. I was given 2 options either leave some baggage behind or pay for it. I was not going to leave my baggage behind. The check in clerk then added my hand luggage (the small suitcase) to my take-in baggage, obviously making it on excess of the allowed 30kg. I then requested to chat to the manager on site for Emirates in Delhi. His name is Munish Sundriyal, the Shifts authoriser. I chatted calmly to him to explain the above but he would hear nothing and offered me 2 options- leave the baggage or pay for it.</p> <p> </p> <p>I had no choice but to pay. The charges came to a whopping 24 340 Rupees (approx. 6000 Rands) after they added all the taxes in India. I was flabbergasted! I had just been ******. When I arrived back in South Africa I immediately chatted to 3 senior staff at Emirates and told them what had happened. They were all in agreement that my 2 pieces of luggage is allowed as hand luggage.</p> <p> </p> <p>This incensed me! What the hell are you guys up to at Emirates?! Is this a ploy to get excess baggage charges from your customers?! I will not accept this and I want a full refund of the so called ‘excess baggage’ charge. If I do not get a full refund into my account then I will take this further to the highest place at Emirates, twitter, facebook and all other mediums for exposing you. I expect a speedy response as this is no small amount of money.</p> <p> </p> <p>I subsequently reported my grievance with Emirates on the 18th April 2016 with reference: JNB/X/SG/***. It has been over a month now and I have had no feedback from customer affairs (***). I want my money back</p> <p> </p>
