Emirates not tracing my lost baggage

I travelled from Atlanta on the 12th of December. This was Emirates operated by United on a local flight to Chicago.

My bags were checked in in Atlanta and tagged to be dropped in Johannesburg on the 14th of December when I land.

I only collected one bag and after waiting about 45 min at baggage collection, I went to the Emirates counter where I was told my bag was left in Chicago and that it will be sent to my Dbn address in 48 hours.

6 days later, I have received no update from Emirates. On Tuesday when I called I was told my bag was found and it will arrive in Dubai at 7 pm. I have been calling everyday since Tuesday and no one has given me any update on where the bag is and when it will be delivered.

I have been inconvenienced in ways I cannot explain. I landed in Joburg and stayed there three days without out any clothes. I am now meant to travel home for Christmas and need specific items in that bag.

The airline has been very nonchalant about it with replies such as “ we will get back to you as soon as we have able update “

Why is there no update on the exact location of the bag?

I am so annoyed!
