Emirates not so good anymore

Flying out of Cape Town with Emirates, make sure you are well fed and hydrated. For nearly two hours after takeoff NOTHING happens. Confusion with the air hostesses and my question to Emirates is " Is this how you operate in future'? We flew to Bologna in March and next time, another airline will get my money. And they are cheaper than Emirates at the moment.
