Emirates Broken Luggage Claim Nightmare

On a recent flight from Dubai to SA, my bag was broken due to poor handling. When asked for a value, a gave an amount off the top if my head. It is Emirates' policy to replace according to the value of the item and not on against the size/material of the bag that they have broken! They are now forcing me to pay out of my own pocket for a bag of similar spec. Completely unacceptable. Pay for your damages Emirates!!
