Burn Incident on Emirates Flight
This post is on behalf of Robert Birk

On Emirates Flight EK764 to Dubai on 17 Sept. 2015, a stewardess bumped my tray and my hot coffee spilt onto my lap and burnt my leg. Only after I made a fuss did someone give me burn cream, and pyjamas to change into. I declined another seat. At no time did anyone check on me.

On 7 Oct., when I was home, I emailed my travel agent, Susan, at e-Travel in Cape Town with my complaint and she forwarded it on to Emirates.

On 15 Oct. I received a mail from Ronel Mostert, Customer Affairs at Emirates, expressing concern that I bumped my coffee into my lap and confirming what she had been told had taken place.

On 20 Oct. I wrote back to Ronel confirming that the stewardess knocked the coffee over not me. She responded that although I wasn't happy with their response they had fully investigated the issue and had nothing further to add.

At no time were Emirates staff prepared to accept responsibility for the incident or apologise for it, which left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I of course won't travel Emirates again, but that is clearly not of concern to them.

Thank you
Robert Birk
